I am having some problems inserting images into photoshop, whenever i get some image like the master chief, crop it n' crap, i believe it is supposed to be like this

Instead when i copy it into ps i get this...(not the same image but nontheless it is uncropped)

Any help on preventing this etc. would be much appreciated.

are you doing the cropping yourself?

if you are copy and pasting these images from the internet and not cropping/cutting the image yourself, first save the image to your hard drive and then open it in ps, transparency information does not copy for some reason when copying and pasting.

if you are cropping the image yourself make sure that when you delete the elements of the picture that you want deleted, that the layer you are deleting it from is not the background but an actual editable layer. If it is the background before you hit hte delete button double click on the background and make it an editable region.

If the problem is occuring after you save the image after cutting, then it is most likely due to your color profiles being set incorectly. To preserve your transparency when saving go to image > mode > cmyk color and then when you save as a gif or a png it will preserve the transparency.

Hope one of these solutions works for you :)
