I am editing files I pulled out of android SDK to make modifications for Android phone roms.

When I pull the image files (.png) from the folder they are in the mode "Indexed..." and if I open them in Photoshop CS5.1 they open blurred out or in some other way messed up.

The only option I have is to open them in Gimp, change them to RBG and then resave them. It is VERY tedious since every time I want to change the color of the battery images I have to change 204 images.

I would like to be able to open them in Photoshop, change them to RBG and then do the huge/sat color changes with a Photoshop macro.

Can anyone give me some advice here please. I am still a bit of a noob/boob when it comes to Photoshop, but I am learning. :)

Go to the menu Image/Mode. There you can choose RGB color.
