Why does this popup appear when saving tiffs that have no layers?
I've been processing images, first in Photomatix, then RAW adjustments then finish up Photoshop CS3.
I change the Mode from grayscale (a RAW conversion to b&w in Bridge) to RGB and from 8bit to 16bit tif.
Most images close without issue after these changes and adding the word 'final' to the image file.
But sometimes, I get the popup alert when closing that 'Including layers will increase file size', even though there are no layers. It makes the file size jump from 65mb to 130mb.
It must be a function of the tif saving options dialogue box but I have no idea what I am doing differently to cause this to happen.
Thanks for the help.
Bob

Hi and welcome to the forum, not really sure on this, but make sure that you are not saving any extra alpha channels or paths and I presume you don't save the image pyramid. Any of these and they will add to the file weight.

Nope, no alpha channels. I saw the 'pyramid' option in the tif options dialogue box but don't know what that is. I will try again to disable it but it is still a mystery that sometimes I get the 'including layers . . . " without doing anything differently.
Thanks, Bob

I was recommend to try the 'flatten layer' option. That worked. Just don't know why PS or how PS can apply a layer that does not appear in the layers palette. But it does.
Thanks, Bob
