Hello everyone, I am pretty new to PS. I am wondering if someone can either explain to me or guide me to a book that can explain the significance of channels, alpha channels, masks; these are topics I don't quite firmly grasp. I have fooled around with them a bit and understand pretty well how to apply them, but can't grasp why one uses them. Is it all part of creating non-destructive images? Sorry for message length![/i]

There are lots of good foundation boooks- Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book, Studio Techniques by Ben Willmore, Photoshop 1-on-1 by McClellend are a few.
