Load the file in ps and lower quality.. maybe that will help?

That doesn't work if you have any animation frames in your psd. Image Ready offers excellent image compression tools. Mess around with the settings on the Optimize pallette. The less amount of colors you use the smaller your file size will be. The more effects and animation frames you have, the larger yor image will be. I managed to get some animation in my avatar and made it under 7.5 kb. See if you can sacrifice some of your animation frames to save on size, but still achieve the effect you're looking for. Try using the 2-up feature to see the difference between the original and the optimed version.
