There is no need to use complicated texture layering or anything for this effect. He is doing something remarkably similar to mine but he has it shrunk down in size and half-covered by something so all you see is the part where the light fades to darkness.
Simple lighting effects, not sure why everyone is making this more complicated than it needs to be. heh. |

Just wanted to add that every texture on that page was made from scratch in photoshop. The metal textures etc are all very generic texture tutorials. Anyone remember the site wastedyouth.org? They had tutorials for just about everything he does on his site. heh. |
