Hi, I am still learning photoshop and need to remove the shadows from around these people's face. Can anyone suggest the best way? I have googled and tried a few methods but I just cannot figure out how to get rid of shadows and background when it comes to people's hair. Thank you.

Hair, especially when there isn't much contrast with the background, takes a lot of time and patience. And even then it may not be perfect. I did this relatively fast, so it isn't perfect.

The more time you spend the better it could be. For the large area I cut out a section of bare wall and put it on it's own layer. Moved it over the shadow area and painted out what I didn't want with a layer mask. Smaller areas, I used the clone tool and or just painted over. Always use layers. I also cloned out the hairs on the lady's shoulder.

Good job... not bad. but The way I'd do it was cutting out the whole couple and then make a fake gradient at the back ...
