Hello,
I am trying to update a website. I need to change the year 2004 on an image which is in gif format to 2005. How do I do this? I just used Microsoft Word and made a 2005 using word art and it looks ugly. The one made by an old student for 2004 looks really professional and blends into the picture. What is the right way to do this! This is my first time working on websites as a job (and I really like what I'm doing, I don't want to do a bad job and blow my chance at this job!)
I have another question too! The 2004 website has a header. I just need to change the word "Undergraduates" to "Teachers" How do I do this? Do I have to make a completely new header? I tried doing this in paint and it looks ugly again! The complete beauty of the header is lost. So I just began looking at photoshop. I hope that I will be able to figure this out.
I have never worked with photoshop. The professor didn't tell me that I need to work with photoshop. (He said its Frontpage and HTML which I know).
Another question. I was asked to make a collage of pictures. I did the best I could but I know that this can be done better. ( Especially the 2004 website is beautiful). Any suggestions?
What is the best way to learn photoshop? What are the other tools I need to know to do a good job with graphics?

Yes, here is the website:
http://reu.sdsmt.edu
Everything was done by a previous student. But I added the 2005 part.
Here is the old one. I think that mine looks really unprofessional and ugly compared to the old one.
Could you please give me advice on how this is actually done. Thanks.

It shouldn't be to hard...simply try to clone out the REU 2004 from the background..then you'll be able to type in the text how you want it.
See the cloned sample..then I just added text.
Give it a try,

Thanks! But how did you add the text? When I do (using Photoshop Elements) I just get bold or ordinary letters. I do not get the type of letters your using (looks kind of like Word Art). Which software did you use? Photoshop Elements or CSS?

I'm using CS
I used white letters, with a 1 px red stroke, then added a hard red shadow. I'm sure elements does it somehow...but remember since you have a clean picture (once cloned) why not up date the type.
Pick a dif. look , a sleeker text....make your life easier.
