hi guys, this is the first time I've got stuck using photoshop, but it seems when I save a text graphic and transfer it onto my PC to use as a letter head, the quality of the image is quite poor, and looks like the image has been blown up too much and starts to distort. When I save the images, i save them as a JPEG and at the highest quality.

I'm not sure if it's due to the image size I'm setting initially, I usually just set a page to A4 and work off that, though if I actually messsure the screen physically it's way too small to be A4. If anyone can help me on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Phil

don't know if anyone has answered you yet, I'm still reading oldposts :P , but you might find that increasing the images dpi will help.

You can change it when you create a new image, it asks for resolution or something, and it's set to the default 72. For print media you would be best using 300dpi.

You have almost answered your own question monkey.

Text and type when inputted into Photoshop are Vector, that is to say they are scalable to any resolution. What it appears you are doing is Rasterizing your type, in other words you are turning it into a non-editable graphic. If you wan't your type to be editable or scalable leave it as Vector, don't turn it into Raster by saving the file as a JPEG, the native PSD format always keeps the integrity of the type in tact.

Drag and drop type layers from one document to the other to re-use or cut and paste. If you are trying to use graphic images of text that won't work and there is no workaround.
