|
|
Hi, everybody
I've been discussing on a non-photo site about how to compare two identical still frames from two different video sources. I am posting three sets of two frames - from an DVD on the top and from an online video on the bottom. I see the first two sets with the online video stills having better quality - sharper, more clarity, better color. The first two DVD stills seem very "pixelated" compared to the online stills. The only frame that the DVD still looks better is in the third set -the DVD still on the top appears clearer, sharper, etc.(by a smidgen at least) than the online still. Please try to not take the text overlays on the DVD stills into account.
I would like to hear from anyone here. Is there anything specific to look for when comparing two similar photos? Which still in each set do you see as better in overall quality? Any and all opinions and advice is welcome. Thanks.

Set 1: Version 2. Set 2: Version 2. Set 3: Version 1.
In my opinion, of course. It's really up to you; sometimes, you'll need high-resolution images without artifacts or discolorations. Other times, lower-quality images will suffice. It's all about your opinion, and how well they work for your purposes.
