Hey Photoshop peeps, a little advice...
I'm working with some big >1GB TIFF files (though I've also tried converting to .psd and .psb with little improvement) for large-scale hi-res printing (60" x 90", 10718 x 14451), and our system was lagging pretty hard with it (Retina MacBook Pro 2012 2.6GHz i7 /8 GB RAM/ 512GB HD). We were told in a few other forums that insufficient RAM was the problem, so we upgraded to an iMac 3.5 Ghz i7/32 GB RAM/ 1TB Fusion Drive with an empty 1TB Thunderbolt Drive as a scratch disk. Still, though, even dragging the quick selection tool over a portion of the image causes the pinwheel to spin and even occasionally a progress bar to show up.
Any ideas? Is this as good as it gets unless we go Mac Pro?? Anything I can do to shrink the file without appreciably losing print quality?
Thanks. |
