so every once in a while the only thing i get in photoshop is a hand tool, no mater what tool i click, when i get my cursor over the image, EVIL HAND TOOL!!!! this is so frustrating because i am working on graphics for a client and i cant do anything. help me please. I tried the restore all tools to default but it doesnt work.

This is a common problem. It may well be caused by a memory shortage, Try going to EDIT>PREFERENCES and set the cache level to 4 and the memory allocation for PS to 50% (play with this till it gives the best peformance). go to EDIT>PURGE>ALL. Also, if you don't have a lot of ram get more. Try limiting the amount of ram you use by closing down unnecessary programs.
Finally, if all else fails try resetting preferences or reinstalling Photoshop.
