hey guys, wondering if you could help. i'm using a new LCD (Samsung Syncmaster 173P) and since i've gotten it i've had quite the issue with photoshop. i've tested this problem out on 5, 6 and 8 and get the same results
basically when i open a grayscale image it looks sepia... at first i thought it might be the color settings since i was using a new monitor (especially with LCDs things can get wacky), but i've since changed them to what i percieve would be the right settings; here they are...
RGB: Samsung - Naturl Color Pro 1.0 ICM (RGB works perfect)
CMYK: US Web Coated (SWOP) v2
Gray: Dot Gain 20%
Spot: Dot Gain 20%
changing the gray to a different setting doesn't seem to change the problem at all...
for a visual this is what i see in every other program (image ready, windows media viewer, dreamweaver, etc.)

at this point i've concluded it must be some issue with photoshop itself, it's certainly not a color calibration problem, because i got the desired look in every other program i use.
if anyone know what this problem could be or how to fix it please let me know! this is driving me nuts!

I have the same problem with my PS CS and Samsung's Syncmaster 173P.
All grey tones look sepia (brown) in all colour modes. At the same time Photoshop Elements (2.0) displays all colours correctly, as does Illustrator CS. So what's wrong with Photoshop CS??
Solutions, anybody?
UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED
Alright then, after installing Photoshop Elements (came bundled with a Nikon film scanner, I had not installed it before) and restarting Photoshop all the colours turned out right! Possibly Elements overwrites some of the files common with PShop CS and in doing so fixes the abovementioned error.
