I used to know how to do it, but i forgot how. How do you fade something to another, like:

have one image on layer 2 and another on layer 3, and fade the side of layer one so it looks like they fade together.

or

fade something to white like this

thnx Big Grin

What about a layer mask, with a black to white gradient? that might do it. Wayne

That's what Gallo_Pinto suggested, and that's what I would use. Crath--if you want a simpler (but more permanent) way, just pick the Eraser tool, pick a large fuzzy brush from the Brush pull-down, and click where you don't want the layer to show. Keep in mind, the only way to bring back what you erase is Undo or Step Backward.

You could place photo 1 on a layer and photo 2 on a second layer.
Then, working on the top layer, add some transparency to position it over the second layer. Return it to 100% and select the eraser tool. Start at a comfortable brush size and about 10% pressure. Begin erasing. You can feather the merge point and just work it. When you've got what you want, merge.
