Hi All,
I have a picture (GIF/JPG) that has some text in it (like a watermark). I want to delete the text from the picture. If I select it and delete, the background becomes white. How can I do this so that the area vacated by the text is filled with the background?
Thanks!

hahaha You make it seem like it should be that easy. I just wish it was lol. You can only do that if you're working with a layered file format such as TIFF or PSD. Even then the watermark would have to be on its own separate layer. Depending on what the background is there are many solutions to this problem. I'm guessing you're going to have to spend a lot of time with the clone tool. If you can attach an exaple of one of the photos you're working with I can probably be a bigger help.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the reply. I am a newbie to photoshop. Please excuse me if I am underestimating the complexity.
The attachment contains a sample jpg file. What I want to do is to erase the 'yoyodyne' text.
If you succeed, please let me know the steps.
Thanks!
Krish

well im not sure but it looks like the outer part with the dots seems to be repeating so if you cut out the words i think you could rotate it and cover it up if you alligned it perfectly

Yeah something like that is totally easy with the clone tool. I spent like 30 seconds on it, and got the watermark off. Granted I could've done a better job and made it look perfect, but you get the idea.
"Remove a watermark" is a pretty relative expression. It really depends on what the background is and how big the watermark is. Something like this would be far more difficult to remove:
Be careful removing watermarks though. They are usually there because the image is copyrighted. You can search for some good tutorials on how to use the clone tool on http://google.com or http://good-tutorials.com
