I am going crazy about this. I want to try an effect that I like that gives me a more faded look to my images. I know how to bring down the blacks but my histogram looks like the one to the left. I still want a little black and white all the way to the edges to keep a better contrast. I think you know what I mean when you open the file. I have played a lot with curves but canīt get it like this.

I just canīt seem to let this go so please help me!

Welcome to the forum. Do you have an image that is a source image and an image that you want to achieve?

You are presently in Levels not in Curves, judging by your screenshot.

I think I know what you want, but am reticent as I don't want to cover well trodden ground.

Yes I know this is levels. The one to the left is a histogram from an images that is mine and the one to the left from photographers like Clausen, Haisch and Flanigan. Think this exampel was from Clausen.
