sup.
i'm new to these forums and i have already found them to be quite an interesting read 
...however im hoping someone could help me out with an issue im having.
i went thru the archives in hopes of finding a thread with my same problem and i came across the 'CRUMMY TEXT' thread. however, it didnt quite solve my issues so i started a new one.
those who have been using photoshop for the past decade, would know the horror it was to print sharp text..the only solution was to import the image in illustrator and create the text in thtat software otherwise the final printout would look crummy. finally with photoshop 6, this problem was resolved and we could now print sharp text within the software.
i designed a few business cards using ps6 and got great results with the final prints. now im using ps7 and as u might have guessed, im having problems. seems as if im using ps5 again because when i print out text, they look crummy. i even found a few images i created AND printed on ps6 and tried opening them now on ps7 to see if they would print sharp like before and ...nope! all of a sudden they all print crummy.
im using a HP laserjet 4000 black n white printer which is what i test print before i send it to the color labs for final print.
im so frustrated that i am creating a new image file, 300 dpi cmyk, white background with black text. arial font.
nice and simple. and im printing it.
ofcourse it comes out CRUMMY.
then i create a text file on notepad, same font, same words..and i print it and it looks marvelous...sharp and legible..the same way my old ps6 files would print.
i have attached both files, the ps7 and the notepad file. print and compare if you would.
please help..ive got a deadline this weekend for a business card and im stressing!

thanx gecko but ive tried sharp, smooth, crisp, etc.
they all print out crappy.
i even sent the file to a few friends and they told me it printed out nasty. i dont understand it, ever since ps6, texts print out sharp. i hope theres a solution to this or an option or setting i have missed.
i really dont want to have to import my work into illustrator..its just an extra step i would like to avoid, espcecially since i never had to do it before.

What point size are you using for text?
I never go below 12pt for CYMK printing at 150lpi as the text is rasterized in PS. Instead I set type in a program like CorelDraw or Illustrator. The results are always spot on. I have created hundreds of business cards for clients and never had a problem with text.

well, i am using very small fonts...but i never had a problem with it in the past when i used ps6...
but it seems that the only solution will be to import the design into illustrator and create the text there.
illustrator is a true vector based program anyway..so i guess i have no choice.
but if this is the case, then why does adobe claim that theyre text in photoshop is now vector based when it truly isnt? this is my conflict...is it really vector based?

Yes, the text is vector based. Doesn't make sense that it's not prinitng well. If you'd like to send me to the psd I can test it and try to figure it out.
