This may be a question for the beginner's section, so sorry if I waste your time...What is the best way to crop an image and get it outlined perfectly? Confused

..go to edit -> free transform
..click on the top left or top right edge
..drag, see if it works
..press shift (so it is proportional)
..crop the heck out of it
..right click on your layer -> blending options
..stroke -> whatever you wish

That's not really cropping, that's resizing. Make a selection with the marquee tool and go to Image -> Crop. Then put a stroke on it set to Inside.

Will that help me to crop it without having to lose my eyesight (straining to see and hold my hand steady)...In order to get it detailed?

Why would you need to lose your eyesight? Can you post an example of what you're working with. I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're trying to do.

I was speaking figuratively...I am trying to find the easiest way to crop images (really erase all but the single image), but all I can do is use a lasso and that takes forever--not to mention that there is still a chance that the image will have trash around the edges.

Are you trying to cut things out of a background or actually crop out squares?

if out of background, use the magic wand tool... if squares, rectangular lasso what you want to KEEP, then selection -> inverse.. delete
