I use CS4 on both my desktop 64bit Vista and Laptop 32bith Vista (Dell M1330) with an external USB mouse.

After using the crop tool several time - the crop box appears randomly in the image area - as soon as I click the left mouse button to begin a crop.

When I attempt to use a brush - by clicking on the beginning point - then holding shift and cliking on the end point - the line will sometimes be drawn randomly in the image.

Any thoughts???

Sorry - I left out that these problems only occur on my Laptop - 32bit Vista CS4.

Try resetting the tool and see if that makes any difference:

- In the top left hand corner there's a drop down box next to the picture of the tool (brush or crop).
- Click on that drop down, and you'll get a little window with a triangle on the right hand side.
- Click on this second triangle and choose "reset tool".

Another possibility is if your tablet is getting in the way. Sometimes if I'm holding a tablet pen and a mouse at the same time (I know, I know!) then the cursor gets confused if the pen leans over the tablet while I'm trying to use the mouse.
