Hi Kaaay
IMO, (for what it's worth), the pair look to be too small compared to the background. The beach chairs on the left look enormous and i think the image of the couple looks a bit too "sharp". Not having attempted anything like that myself i couldn't offer any tips until i tried it. All in all, i think it's a good attempt, nice idea and a great background image. |

use shadow and highlights on your couple to adjust the amount of shadow that should be on them. ( Image > adjustments > Shadow & highlights ). You might want to turn them first into a smart object so that u can always go back and adjust the shadows and highlights on them for w/e reason.
secondly dont cut off the water so fast....if they are at the beach there's gotta be some sand out behind them that slowly goes into the sea....just saying.
then adjust brightness and darkness to ur background as well. Here's a simple technique i use to find out if ive gone too far. create a hue/saturation adjustment layer at the very top of ur layers and desaturate the entire image. This wont make ur image grayscale permanently as u can easily get rid of this adjustment layer, next make ur background a smart object and then adjust the shadows and highlights. Now you'll be able to see whats too dark and whats to bright bc they have no colours, bc of the adj. layer. Once u have it it just right u can get rid of the hue/saturation adj. layer at the very top of the layers.
next start adding ambient lighting to your wedding ppl. Do this by creating a new layer above the couple then clip it ( ctrl + alt + g or command + option + G on a mac ) and then on this layer u will use hte airbrush to sample a colour the lamps give out. Once u have that colour on the new layer brush over the sides of the ppl (use 0% hardened edge ) at a low opacity such as 33% and maybe even have the blend mode on the brush at overlay or soft light.
Do this also for other things that might pick up lights that werent there on the image. like chairs etc...chairs might pick up lighting from the actual sky so u might use colours from the sky, this might be true for the couple as well. Some layers will need to be clip and some wont. Trial and error my friend. I hope htis has helped. |
