I have a lot of Underwater Photographs .. and have used many techniques, plug-ins, actions; to try & correct for extreme cyan colour cast.
One of the recent methods I have seen is using the Channel Mixer, I don't really understand much about using this - anybody aware of any tutorials on this ?
The way it is used in this video clip would be typical of what I have to deal with, be nice to understand more.

hi,
there a lot of tutorials on the channel mixer but they don't go in depth on exactly what it is doing the tutorial you posted is about the best really
now you can look at this one but i don't think will address what your looking for...

now another meathod i use when addressing a bad channel is that replace the channel ... basically copy to clipboard a good channel and then paste to the bad channel and go from there..
i think the basic difference between the two meathods is one is non distructive and the other is distructive |

That is typical of majority of pics I want to adjust. (not all that bad though)
Underwater Photography has a couple of specific issues ... there is serious lack of any Red light, it is filtered out as you go deeper - hence cyan cast.
There is also typically low light
There is often serious backscatter where light is reflecting of detritus in the water.
I deal with each separately ....
Currently trying to improve my skill & understanding of Channel Mixer, as it gives such excellent results in far fewer steps.

I have tried a couple by 'deke' but the style doesn't work for me - too much like Jim Cramer (Mad Money CNBC)
If you know of any good Ps course to go through on line let me know ...

Pretty good .. guy knows his stuff, and puts it over well.
Also watched a few of the Youtube videos by Ranash (he was in OP) his presentation style is great .. have to try find some more of his stuff.
I'm not into creating works of art, or something Warhol would be proud of .. just the ability to tweak, adjust, cut extracts etc. to make best of my photographs. |

in general, take look at katrines books , this is a website that show some of her books, she considered one of the experts especialywith retouching...

note: if you think you have a intersting photo and/or a interesting question which i think you have.. you can upload... and he may choose your phto and question to use in a clip ...
russel brown is another very good one, he has two sites where his stuff is shown ... he one of the top honcho's at adobe, he a character

i imagin also noise issues....
a couple of things i can say here..
ps nver been great on this... however there techniques... beside. using mask...
a. using freq seperation techniques.... that seems the latest i have seen on other boards...
