I am trying to use a channel mixer adjustment to repair an image damaged in Hurricane Katrina. Yet image>adjustment>channel mixer is grayed out. Can anyone please advise? I am using Photoshop CS2 version 9.0
Thanks in advance. The photograph is over 100 years old and is of my grandmother as a child.
BTW, I am following instructions in PhotoshopRestoration & Retouching by Katrin Eismann.

Am I right in guessing it's a B+W pic? check in image mode it should be RGB if it's greyscale change it (also check it's 8 bit in the same place) Wayne
