I was just wondering how people go about making black and white photos in photoshop. I know that you can use the black and white function, but that makes it on a grey scale. I was wondering what adjustments are being used to really make a photo black and white?

Yeah I figured there were numerous ways to do it. I edited a photo of a friend and the original I used was basically all white and I really liked the effect. I was just wonder what are some of the tools or features to use to get that same look. I figured most of it would be in the layer adjustments.

Channel mixer method Channel Mixer

Various Methods LAB & Others

there are still numerous ways from duo-toning to calculations, it's going to be a case of try a few methods and see what suits. Another simple way is to desaturate your image (Ctrl+Shift+U) and then use saturation to change the 'colours' in the image. The list isn't endless but I could go on... ;)
