switchback,
Why do you want to set your images at 16 bits per channel? Were they imported into Photoshop at 16 bits per channel?
The way to change from 16 to 8 bits per channel or visa versa, is to go to Image > mode and then look for the "8 bits/channel" or "16 bits/channel"
It is arguably hard to see, if at all, any visible difference from 8 - 16 bits per channel, except in the histogram.
You can import a 16 bit per channel image into Photoshop, throw it against the wall, stomp on it with your boots, run over it with a Humvee, shoot it with a shotgun, set fire to it, flush it down the toilet, and throw it out the window into the mud, and STILL end up with a very handsome looking histogram. |
