At the moment the only technique i know to change the color of a car is to use the Lasso tool, then use Hue and Saturation to find the color to use. But the Lasso tool is difficult to use it accurately. Whats a better method? |

It depends on the image you have, if there isn't much of a background you can use the color range selection and eliminate the background first then you can work on the car only... or you got the extraction filter, or you can use a layer mask to get rid of the background if its a more complex one. As far as the actual color change, there are many different ways, hue/saturation like you said, or color replacement tool... play with them and see what works the best. |

I you use a Hue/Sat adjustment layer and fill the mask with black..it will look just like the original...Not what we want, but then paint in the new hue/sat by useing a white brush.

i would simply select the parts that i want colored with the pen tool (allows smoother edges then the lasso tool) and go to hue/saturation or color balance. _________________ My gallery |

The best way seem to me to simply select the car paint color with Color Range, then New Layer, drop the color you want into the selection on the new later, above your car, then just change the layer to a color layer blending mode. This is how I change the color of everything from text to paint to clothes. |
