Learn how to use selections, layer masks, alpha channels, the pen tool and quick masks. NEVER USE THE ERASER TOOL because the eraser tool is a permnament desructive tool while the others are NON-destructive tools.
Did you know you can make your own brushes in Photoshop if you know how?

Bert can show you how to make your own photoshop brushes because Bert helped design some of the brushes for Photoshop 7.0 _________________ Qubert |

There is an extract tool in photoshop (in the filters menu) it's designed for this purpose, if your going to use a distructive method (eraser/extract) make sure your working on a duplicate of your original image. Wayne |

The only time I use the extract tool is for cutting finer things like hair and thin objects. |

If you MUST use the eraser make sure you are working on a COPY of the photo before you use it.
The eraser isn't the right method anyway for most things. There are so many better ways. Other posters have already outlined them. I have yet to run across a situtation where the eraser is the best method.
