one questions, I noticed that when I free transform an image and shrink it, it loses its quality drastically; i believe its called downsampling, but how can I change the image size without compromising resolution. Can this be done with the free transform tool.............. |

Hi comfortablynumbeli,
What exactly are you trying to do? If you're trying to make the image smaller then you'll be better served by using the 'Image Size' command. The Transform options are best if you're changing the size of an individual layer.

I am trying to manipulate the photo so that it preserves the the original photo quality, so that even if I shrink it and choose to resize it back to its orginal size then it would look the same as it did originally. What I am trying to say is that If I minimized an image using free transform but then I decided to bring it back to its original size, but it looked like a color table and I could count the pixels. |

As previously mentioned, you'll need to turn the layer into a smart object. You can do that by right clicking the layer and choosing 'Smart Object' from the menu.
Smart Objects have only been available in the last few versions of Photoshop, and are not currently available in Photoshop Elements so it will depend on what version of the software you are using as to whether this will work.
