i just insralled 7500 fonts on my PC so now have 9 000 in total. When i run PS it hangs horribly and becomes so slow operation is almost impossible. Do I need to remove my fonts? If so how do I take advantage of them in future? Is there a way I can activate deactivate them? Why is PS not programmed to deal with large quantities of fonts? |

Really what are they called?
I tried a tried a reinstall of PS but still no luck. I'm gonna have to use Ubuntu and delete them all then copy an old installations font folder across hope it works :\ |

I am a font freak, but without a font manager I'd be walking around blind in the woods. I never keep more than a couple of hundred active at any one time. More to the point, is that there are far too many crap fonts, which may look interesting, but end up having absolutely no practical value.
Lots of open-source managers available, that's a simple Google. The commercial product that I use on both my Mac's and my PC's is Extensis Suitcase Fusion and Suitcase Windows, respectively. Worth every penny. |

You don't have to install fonts. I keep them in a folder, open the one I want, and minimize it..
It is then temporarily installed in any program you have..Closing it, uninstalls it..
I use my font viewer to look at my fonts..It's easier than opening each one individually..I can temporarily install a font or a few with it, but then I have to minimize the viewer anyway, so I just find the font and minimize.. _________________ and the wisdom to know the difference... |

Your computer will be accessing all 9000 fonts if you just dump them in your font folder. This will take up LOADS of RAM which is why you are having crashes. I use Extensis font suitcase which is not cheap. There are plenty of freeware programs out there, just google 'freeware font management' _________________ Barry Flammia
