What is the difference between the two? What does Illustrator do that Photoshop doesn't? Confused

Illustrator is designed mainly for vector images, even though you can use bitmaps in it, it doesn't have as many tools for manipulating bitmaps as photoshop and vise versa photoshop doesn't have as many tools for manipulating vectors... thats how I see it at least.
