Hello folks,

I'm running into a small problem using Photoshop which should be very trivial to fix but of course I wouldn't be here unless I was having problems! I have a number of buttons for my website that don't have any layers to individually edit. See image 1 (yes it is a button!!).

As you can see this button has an orange/brown look to it but I'm trying to use these buttons on various websites which all have different colours. Take for example this "general" colour of one of my sites: (Image 2)

Image 2 is a green colour with
RGB=176,201,176
CMYK=31%,10%,34%,0%

I have been trying to use the colourise feature of Photoshop to change this. (Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation -> Click Colourize)

For example: Say I wish to change image 1 colour to exactly match image 2's colour, how do I use Photoshop to accomplish this? How do I know what values to use?

At the moment when I use colourise I'm just fumbling in the dark. I keep moving the 3 slider bars (Hue/Sat/Bright) backwards and forwards until I think the colour looks just about right. Inevitably this trial and error approach results in many mistakes and the colours don't match.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me out?

Thank you if you take the time to do so.

Have you tried: Match Color
(Image/adjusment/match color)
or
Making a blank layer above your button, make a selection of the part of the button you want to paint. paint the color you want and set the blend mode to darken or lighten depending on the color in question.
add a layer style set to COLOR OVERLAY..set to darken.

Just ideas.
