HI,

I do not use photoshop, but I am trying to help a lady who does. She uses an online backup system called carbonite. It saves her pictures, however, it does not appear to be saving her "tags" or cataloguing system.

I can find no reference to metadata in photoshop nor any index referencing system to associate tags with a file name.

Is there a way to implement metadata into her photos to integrate the tag info into the pictures? OR Is there a way to backup the index so that if she should have to reload lost data the pictures AND their associated tags are recovered?

Thanks in advance!

Hi philtheist,
In Photoshop Elements the tag information isn't written to the metadata until you export the catalogue. If you want to do it manually then you can go to File>Write Keyword Tag and Properties to Photo. The best bet I'd say is to use the backup command under the file menu to backup your catalogue to another hard drive.
Hope this helps

does the process you described [file>write keyword tag and properties to photo] have to be done for each picture individually, or can you global? I think she is already backing up to dvd/hard drive, but the carbonite backs-up automatically as she works. She therefore could make it part of her process to file>write for future reference.

Thanks for your help.

You can either do it individually or by selected photos, so for instance you can go to Edit > Select All and then use the 'write keyword tag and properties to photo' command to apply keywords and properties into the metadata of the active images.
Hope this helps
