Hello there, new guy here like most people on this forum :).

I have puzzled out a fair bit from trial and error and the inbuilt help but some hurdles I would like to clear are as follows.

1.

Splicing Images. I have had some success with the magnetic lasso and manual pixel erasing. However this only works when the wanted subject has good contrast with the background you are cutting it from. How do I cut say a man in camoflage standing in a forest and paste him onto a plain white background with no untidy edges and distortion?.

2.
How do you phase text color. For example have a word start in red then fade to orange across the letters.

3.
How do you fade two pictures or two layers into each other. For example one picture on the left of your canvas fades into another picture on the right half of the canvas at the vertical middle point.

Thanks alot for any help.

Issue 1: In my opinion the best way to do this, though it may be a bit time consuming, is to use the magnetic lasoo tool and then once you have the selection convert the selection to a parth and manually shape the path to the exact shape you require. It is a bit time comsuming but in the end you are left with exactly the part of the image you want.

Issue 2: Create a selection of the text and just create a gradient on a new layer. It will be eactly along the shape of the text. If you are looking to create perfectly vertical horizontal or 45 degree gradients you can hold shift while dragging your gradint points to get it right.

Issue 3: The best way in my opinion for the would be to create a gradien mask over the two images, in opposite directions obviously and that should about do it.

Hope this helps,

David
