Is there a way, a keyboard shortcut perhaps, to zoom smoothly (or close to it) without a scroll wheel or Animated Zoom?
I am working with a Wacom tablet that lacks a scroll wheel and touch capabilities, so the only way I can QUICKLY zoom in an out is with ctrl+ and ctrl-, but its not very precise. I am using CS4.

You might try using the navigator.
