My friend has a vinyl cutting machine, but in order to get the designs that he wants, I was going to modify them in Photoshop and then transfer them to the cutting software that he has. The problem is that when I try to save a layer, I get a big white space where the background should be. The cutter software then cuts out the big white space. I know I have saved parts of images by themselves before years ago, but for the life of me, I can't remember how to do it. My question is how do I just save the image that I want without including the background?

Hi

What format are you saving to? Popular formats like JPEG can't save transparency, instead they replace transparent pixels with white ones.

Try PSD, TIFF or PNG.

Hope this helps
