|
|
Notice on the left side, the edge is faded to give a 3-D look and on the right side of the artwork itself (ignore the red HD DVD case), it is rounded. How do I accomplish this?
For example I already have the following, and I want to make it look similar to above. I just don't know how to round the corners on one side and give the left edge that faded look.
Here is the blank case:
Here is the artwork:
I don't want anyone to do it for me, but can anyone explain me how? I need to make several of these and thus need to learn. Thank you! |

Hi there
Plenty of ways to do these jobs, depends a lot on the file you're using (layers, flat?).
You can achieve the fade by using a layer mask and the gradient tool on the mask itself.
You can round the corners by making a selection and using the select>modify>smooth command. Then inverse the selection and paint out the rounded edges with the same colour as the border to match things up.
Hope this helps _________________ Matt

I am very new to CS3, PS in general. Not sure, I think flat. I would literally first open up the case image and then create a second layer over it with the artwork. Is that flat or layered? How do you get a layer mask? Thx |

Sounds like you're working with a layered document.
Might be easiest to create a new layer and use the gradient tool followed by lowering the oppacity. Make sure you're using a black to transparent gradient. _________________ Matt
