I've made hundreds of Photoshop actions in CS4. I upgrade to CS6. Weird stuff is now happening when I create a brand new action. In this case, Photoshop is exporting my images with a ".html" extension.

When I open the folder that has the files, I see the images have a .html extension (strange!). When I rename the extension to ".jpg" the file turns into a JPG. Okay, so it is an image, just the wrong extension name. So I check the meta data within the save command in the action. Everything looks normal (it even says it's going to save it as a jpg), but I found an extra command line in there that I've never seen before, and that I think is causing the bug. Here it is:

Custom File Name: "8.html"

...normally that's *NEVER* there. But now it appears every time I record a normal jpg export. Sounds ultra buggy.

I'll include some screenshots:

I did some tests to see if I'm doing a strange JPG export... but I didn't find anything out of the ordinary.

I export hundreds of JPGs for work, so this is a significantly crippling bug. 'Dead'

Help!

I found out how to reproduce the bug! If you have Ps CS6 (on a mac w/10.7), then I think you can probably reproduce it as well...

Step 1 ) Open any JPG image from your computer.
Step 2 ) Create a new action and start recording.
Step 3 ) Select: File > Save for Web...
Step 4 ) Set the save setting to JPG and click "Save".
Step 5 ) Now it will give you the option to set the file name before it gets saved. Give the image a new custom name, such as "testing123". Now save it anywhere on your computer.
Step 6 ) Hit the stop record button.
Step 7 ) Play back the action once.
Step 8 ) Locate the new file you just exported with the action.
Step 9 ) Reply to this post and tell me you found the same thing! ;-)

FYI
I gave it a shot with CS5 on windows and couldn't get it to replicate the issue.

In my action the 'in' column has the location and the file name testing123.jpg all as one path
I don't have a 'custom file name' column.

Apparently there is a way to edit actions in a text/script editor but I'm not enough of a action junkie to know the details.
