Fireworks for everything, its just as powerful as Photoshop, and less "intensive" in its GUI.

I'm an Adobe fan... I've been meaning to get the Macromedia apps and try them but have been using Adobe products for so long (about 8 years) that I think it would be like teaching an old dog new tricks.

I really like the Adobe interface toolbars... but maybe one day I'll take the jump and try to use some Macromedia products. Who knows - I might like them better! _________________ Brandon Eley - I actually used Photoshop 2.0!

Just because Dreamweaver comes from Macromedia as well doesn't mean Fireworks should be your best bet Adobe Photoshop is the standard in the graphic design world and I highly recommend using it.

Although it does come at a hefty price tag. But if you're able to get the Student version I would definetely get Photoshop. _________________ Jeroen Mulder

So far the only thing I've found in Fireworks that I like is the vector tools are a bit better than in PS, and it's XML data-replacing for graphics templates is cool.

Otherwise, Photoshop has my vote.

Integration with Dreamweaver is a non-issue, as it allows you to specify any external editor for any filetype, so roundtrip editing with Photoshop is cake. _________________ I got nuthin. |

vector graphics are handle by illustrator which is very compatible with its brother photoshop

sure you have to purchase a second program

but anyone familiar with illustrator will tell you that illustrator has a lot of options and ability and potential _________________ *sketchkiddie*

As far as vector graphics are concerned, Illustrator is leaps and bounds above Photoshop AND Fireworks. Freehand is Macromedia's Illustrator equivalent.
