Hi

for reasons too boring to get into, my Canon D30 camera got stuck on the preset 'super vivid colors' and overexposure by +2/3.

Is there any way to salvage these (underwater) pictures? I have fiddled about with the saturation, colors; levels; exposure and brightness (in PS CS6), but couldn't get anything decent out of it.

Can anyone provide an idiots' guide for me?

Here's an example, attached

thanks

What format did you shoot in? Raw? or JPEG? or other? If RAW then probably, yes.

No, jpeg. It doesn't do RAW.

Do you have a reference image that members could use as a guide if they took up the challenge?

Hi

thanks for the reply. Does 'reference image' mean "what I would like to output/result to look like"?

In this attachment, the top row is what I 'normally' get from this camera. Top left is how a normal picture (jpg) comes out of the camera. Top right is a little better (after I have tweaked the levels in Photoshop).

The bottom row is of a similar scene from this batch of "problem" shots that I am trying to fix. Bottom left is how it comes out of the camera. Bottom right is the best I can do with it. But I think it must be possible to do better - I just don't know how.

I guess what I am looking for is a 'recipe' of changes that I can make to all my 60 'problem' pictures. Something like:

-Image>Adjustments>Exposure: turn down the exposure to 1.14
-Image>Adjustments>Colour: turn up the red color balance to +75
-Image>Adjustments>Contrast: turn down to -7
-Image>Adjustments>Saturation: turn down to 16

et voila - the picture looks 'normal' again!!

TIA
