Hi all-
I need to quickly quantify branching structures in noisy images (see example: <http://tinyurl.com/l8wgaxp>). I would like to do this interactively (using a pen tablet). Grateful for any advice.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I would ask why, but you have your reasons.
Do you mean you want to quantify the 'branches' in a automated process within Photoshop?
How are you doing it at the moment?
In truth before I get your hopes up, I have no idea. I get that you want to identify the 'branches' amongst the other information there and I'm sure with scripting that could be done, what I'm less sure about is, how do you propose to separate the 'branches' when they overlap or expect Photoshop to? Not saying it can't be done, just that it would seem to add an extra layer to the problem.

Hi Paul-
Thanks for reply! Lets call the structures 'strings' instead of 'branches'. It does not matter if these strings 'overlap' - I want to quantify the total area that they cover. I just need a simple and quick way to 'select', or segment the strings against the noisy background. Could you give me an idea of what type of script you are thinking of, what commands, or functions would it contain? Thanks again!

Sorry to say, I am not he. He is who you need. Or maybe another scripting god.
If you get no joy from these parts I may be able to point you in another direction, but there are no quick fixes if you need it doing in a hurry. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |
