Hi,
I have been using CS 4 on my pc for years now. I'm happy with it but I just bought a macbook. PS is way too expensive for me now and i can see various Elements second hand on Ebay can be pretty inexpensive. As I am used to CS4, what would be the closest to that to buy? It is reasonably old now so should be quite a bargain I hope.
Thanks,

Hi and welcome to the forum.
It kind of depends what you used Photoshop for in the first place. Can you live without certain features and tools? Do you need to work with 16bit files? rather than bore you with others here's a list of some of the differences.
Being a PC user I am also unaware of any decent alternatives like GIMP for Windows. Perhaps other members will have suggestions. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

Hi and thanks for the reply. Yes I read through the list of missing features on essentials before I posted. I can live without them quite happily (and if I really need to I can always go back to the PC for the odd thing anyway). Regarding Gimp, I have already got in on my mac. It is good, especially as it is free, but the interface is not what I'm used to and I am too lazy to learn another one. I'd rather stick to what I know, which is why I was interested in PSE.
Thanks.
Does anyone know what version of PSE I should get that is closest to CS4? |
