A Znet Article summary is "while Adobe moves to a subscription model for its defacto standard Photoshop application, a scrappy, Mac-only image editor stands to gain marketshare from users put off by the idea of subscription software."

Do you think Photoshop will lose customers whrn it becomes a subscription only software?
I'm personally making multiple backup copies of PS CS6 as it looks like the last Photoshop standalone software available |

Only Photoshop is an industry standard, whilst that is the case (and it will be for many moons yet) it is peerless.
If you want a real alternative to Photoshop there is only one serious contender and that's GIMP, which is incidentally free. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

By the way, the title that I put for this post is the article title and not my opinion.
My opinion is that I totally whole-heartedly agree with you, no other software can replace Photoshop's power and flexibility. I'm wondering what graphic design companies who are used to owning a copy of PS will do when it becomes subscription only, I guess they will stick to CS6 and use plugins to substitute for the new features in CS7 |
