Heys all,
So I'm doing this 'piece' for a friend of mine making a stained glass appearance. I know I'm going to trace the photo with the pen tool and stroke it to gain a base lineart and devide it up into multiple pieces of 'glass' to make it attractive the same way.
Here's my problem: He wants to print the piece on a 70cm x 100cm poster (~280MP) and any resources to my disposal are maximum 1080p (1920*1080) so no way near. If I enlarge the image to the printing size it's too heavily distorted for tracing the little details and I'm afraid enlarging after tracing and stroking wouldn't be nice to the eyes as well.
I could always double-trace and create a shape layer, yet this will cost me significantly more time (tracing twice and the whole lot of fixing up to do to make it a decent line). So this is just me wondering if there's a quick way from a path to a stroke in vector - in Photoshop.
Or is this just a higher power playing with my feet for chosing Photoshop over Illustrator?

You should be able to keep what you have if its all paths and shapes.
Only way I know of stopping rasterization when saving/exporting out of Photoshop is to make sure everything is shape layers and paths etc. and save as a PDF file.
Illustrator is obviously the tool of choice for vector however you work with what you got I guess. |

Yeah I figured, but the way I was planning to 'draw' the lines wouldn't really work as paths and shapes with strokes..
So I bought Illustrator (I just love my uni for 'giving' away stuff at ridiculous low prices  ) and drew the line work in there.. And who would know I really like the extra control it gives over the pen tool - as snapping anchor points and handles to existing paths and all that. So I'm coloured and finished the work in Photoshop.
Going to do one of Iron Man pretty soon as well as a poster.. I'll be sure to upload it here so you guys can see/critique it as well.

Nice, I look forward to seeing it.
Illustrator is a good buy especially if you can get it cheap.
I don't know many people who regret the move to Illustrator for shape/vector work. |

Yes i think Illustrator is much better then Photoshop so you can buy a Illustrator. If you want to see the some examples of vector graphics then you can check from here. pasta vector download free . i hope this will be useful for you. |
