My laptop is kind of strong, RAM 4G, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Core i3, Intel HD Graphic, but seemingly not enough for 3D.

If you want to buy Photoshop then buy CS6 as I have, if you already have CS5 then I wouldn't upgrade. I don't think it's worth the 200 bucks unless you're into 3D like xversion1.
