If I want to put some draw into a t-shirt for instance,what is the best choice?
I'm tryng two ways ( displace filter / luma mask + clipping)
is there any significant difference between them?

Displace effects how the art will wrap around folds and creases on the shirt while any type of mask will only do exactly that, mask.
Most of the time you can probably get away without doing either to get a good idea of how it will look on a tshirt.
If your really keen you should use the displace filter imho.
Also there are a few pages around the web that do it for you.
