Hi all, I'm a novice PS user (CS3) and need to automate a task that I currently do manually, but wastes many hours of my time. I'll explain it simply, rather than attempting to jargon up.

I have to creaet a lot of PSD files with each containing 9 photos on a template. Each photo is a 'placed' layer. So when I need to make a new file, I "replace contents" for each layer, to get a brand new set of 9 photos. Then I save to PSD, then save to JPEG for delivery to client.

Sometimes I have hundreds of photos to insert into these sheets of 9 photos per page, so it takes ages. (that is... right-click, replace contents, select file, right-click, replace contents, select file, etc etc zzzzzz)

How can I automate a process by which I can "replace contents" of 9 layers (images) at a time, and then save as mentioned above?

Basically I want to block select 9 JPEGs, and have them methodically placed into the 9 placeholders that I've set up in a PSD file.

I hope my question makes sense.

It's too lengthy to try to explain it all to you here... Look in the help files for Variables and Data sets. That should work for what you are describing.

Why isn't the 'superpaul' light beam shining? I guess he must be averting some other PS disaster, but I'm pretty sure I can hear his footfall! ;)
