I'm brand new to photoshop. I'm trying to create a red ball and put white numbers inside the red ball. I'm basically trying to copy what comes up when you finish a word in Words with Friends. I'm using the elipse tool, but I can't seem to get the color inside to be red, only the font. Can anyone help with this very basic question that I can't seem to figure out?

Don't know what 'Words with Friends' is... so might not have understood you right.

Since you'renew to Photoshop, let's eliminate the obvious possibilities first:
- ensure you have (at least) two layers, one for the ellipse (on the bottom) and one for the text above it.
- When you draw the ellipse, make sure that you haven't accidently selected the 'path' option. Look top left hand side. For you, choose the one which looks like a plain square (without dot corners). Choose the color you want before you draw.
- When you try to change a color, make you that you definitely have the correct layer selected. Use window>layers to open the layers palette so you can be sure.

What color is your ellipse at the moment?

Okay. I got the red dot to work. Thanks for that tip. Now I can't get the text inside the ball.

Somehow I got the text in. Now, I'm trying to do it on another image, and I can't get the red to be the same red. It's almost see through, yet I swear that I'm choosing the same color. The oppacity and fill are both 100%.

Sorry. I was looking at the wrong oppacity. I'll try to keep my rambling panic posts to a minimum now.
