I have a new customer who sent me a few hundred images which one of his employees shot against a green background. It would be easy enough to remove the background, but the green is reflecting on lighter colored products (Like a gray sweatshirt) and some of the pictures are of transparent items, (like a clear, plastic cup, or a product in a clear, plastic bag).
He claims that Photoshop (Which he admitedly knows nothing about) has a "Chroma Green Remover" - You just wave your magic wand and the green disappears. He also claims that he used to send his images "overseas" to have this done and they came back in a matter of an hour or two.
I have been using Photoshop since version 3.5 and have never heard of such a technique (Using CS3 now). Is there a way to do this, or should I have him re-shoot the pics?

You have to shoot greenscreen a few feet away from the product to avoid colour spill, it's also not going to help that you have a transparent image.
There are chroma key plugins, but there is no native tool per se to remove chroma key backgrounds. You will get suggestions from Colour Range to convert to LAB and change the A channel. None of these will produce a satisfactory job.

Go to IMAGE/ADJUSTMENTS/REPLACE COLOR choose the green hold SHIFT to add the different hues of green then just adjust the HUE SLIDER, Simples...!

Yes, I'm aware of the typical techniques. I was only curious because this customer was rather adament over the fact that PS could easily remove the color with a single click. I just wanted to check that there wasn't some technique that I might not have been aware of. But it turns out, he sent his images "overseas" to the company that used to have his images done in a "matter of minutes" and they told him it would take about a week to process all of them :-)
