Filters > Distort. Play with them. Still, use the rectangular marquee tool and draw half of the image before going into filters. To me it looks like that image is distorted in two rectangles. _________________ Photoshoprint | Photoshop Tutorials for Print-Ready Designs |

hmm i've tried distorting. Spherising doesn't stretch in the right way ( it compresses, not stretches) pinching has the same problem. Polor coordinates make a big M shape. also, about the distortion being 2 rectangles, the distortion actually gets more severe closer to the top and bottom of the image. it does do faster and faster ( a hyperbolic curve)
its too hard to replicate manually ( at least i can't figure it out right now)
-thanks for any help! |

hi,
i agree with photoshoprint...
they probably used the distort tool for both thetop and bottom
wht i did ifirst drew my box with alittle feathering... an i stretch the heck out of it.... and then i just compressed (squished).. grin i able toget that look ...
you could probably add a mask to the selections so you can make theedges uneven ...
nowthe main body .... well first there is a texture difference the bottompicture i think they used either sand or a stone texture and then made it black and white... not sure if they used the clouds if they did i think they may have used the cloud on a mask .. i have done similar things...
but those are my 2 cents worth... 2 cents isn't worth they used to be...lol |

ok, you stretched it and compressed it? wouldn't that change nothing?
and no, the bottom picture is a real picture of mercury, not just some clouds and black and white
the stretching idea works but there is a noticeble seam and no matter what i do, it won't go away |
