How do I make a ice texture with scratches? So it looks like the ice from a ice-hockey rink?

hi,
well first you have to come up texture that has the lines you want.. here cupld of ways...
1. make them manually, but that to me is a lot of work
2. find a line texture that might work for example
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=ice+rink+texture&view=detail&id=223BC6769DFDAF07C648158BD62C3A1DC81BC949&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR
note: if the line density is not heavy enough you can always add a couple of dup layers and shift the image on each layer .
3. or take that example you gave and isolate the lines
on the aboe... once done then you can either make it into a brush or pattern..
4. now you can open up your line pattern image
add a blankfile layer with the right color you want...
and then cycle thru the blends to ge the effect you want...
tip: on the mode box if you just clik then with the arrow keys you can quickly cycle thru the blends....
once you have that then different way to go about it further...
you can use the dodge tool to whiten various ares so they look uneven.. you can even use the cloud effect on a mask to do that.. try the blue tool a little... have fun experimenting..
well i hope that get you started
