|
|
Hi, I'm looking for a way to quickly change the HUE (and the hue only) of the different colors in an image.
Let me explain it with an example: suppose I made a pattern for fabric, consisting of red an green squares. And now I want to experiment with other color schemes. Therefore I need a way to quickly change/shift/swap the hue of the colors independently: I want the red squares to change into blue or yellow or pink etc, and the green ones into any color as well. But without changing the brightness or saturation. Just changing the hue of each color in a different direction (NOT overlaying a monochrome cast over the whole picture, turning everything into one color).
And preferably in a random way as well: see the colors change with each press on the button until the result pleases me.
Can this be done by some technique or tool or plugin?
Thank you
Egidius

The first part can be done. Not sure about one button doing everything randomly for you. That would be an action or script.
Use a hue/saturation image adjustment layer or just go to 'image > adjustments > hue/saturation'
Drop down box has 'master' in it originally, change to required colour, and adjust hue.
Below i changed red to green.

That is very good! Thank you.
(I feel a bit embarassed because I use the Hue/Saturation function a lot, and yet overlooked this option)
Because of your suggestion, I did some googling on scripting. It may indeed be possible, but is beyond my capacities, and I haven't found a ready to use script on the internet.
I've been looking very hard for plugins to do this kind of stuf (changing hue, with randomize option) but didn't really find any, to my surpise.

Flaming pear has a color randomizer in it's plethora of plugins, might want to look there to start.

Thanks for the tip.
I looked at the Flaming Pear plugins, but they don't seem to offer what I'm looking for*.
I don't know which Flaming Pear plugin you mean, exactly.
* The technique described by Auieos fits my needs quite well. Nevertheless, a good plugin with randomize option would be welcome as well.

I had a look.
Think it could be the one called 'colorswap' which may be part of the 'free plugins' pack in the downloads section.
Im as confused as you i think
Anyway good idea to get it as it might be exactly what your after.

Where did you find this Colorswap plugin?
I downloaded the free Flaming Pear plugins but there was no "Colorswap". Yes, it has a few separate plugins for swapping RGB with Lab etc, but they do just that and there's no adjustments, let alone a random option.

Flaming Pear>Aetherize
I'm not saying it's exactly what you want, but if you want to jumble a palette it's a good plugin.
